3/4W students have jumped straight into learning with a busy yet rewarding start to term. A much loved and eagerly anticipated activity in the classroom each week is our literacy group rotations. Here, students are given the opportunity to develop their reading and comprehension skills through focused and explicit small group activities with the teacher. Other activities develop skills in speaking and listening, writing, spelling and responding to a variety of texts.
One of the highlights of literacy groups is being able to work collaboratively with peers. You will never see students in 3/4W pass up an opportunity to play Bananagrams with their friends! Students also love the integration of technology into activities as this supports them as future focussed learners. Literacy groups are definitely a highlight of the week!
