Community involvement
Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.
Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)
Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with school planning, fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community.
Joining the P&C a great way to meet other families, get involved and contribute to our school's future. We would love to have you on board!
Join our P&C
Waitara P&C is an incorporated association made up of parent and citizen volunteers who are associated with Waitara Public School. The P&C runs meetings once a term that cater for both morning and evening preferences. Two are held online on a Wednesday night at 7.00pm, and the other two are held on a Friday morning at 9.30am. In doing so, we cater for both working parents who can't attend during the day, and also those parents who may not be able to attend in the evening due to parenting duties. We meet 4 times throughout the year, with our final meeting followed by the AGM.
Volunteers arrange community events for Mother's and Father's Day, Harmony Day, and other occasions in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (SRC). Some parents also volunteer at various sporting events organised by the school.
Our Mission
The P&C exists and operates to support the welfare of our Waitara Public School community.
Our goals include:
- Bringing our school community together in close co-operation
- Providing and improving school facilities
- Improving student welfare

Parents WhatsApp Chats
The P&C facilitates the establishment of Class and Year Level WhatsApp groups to share information with and relevant to the parent body.
The aim of using WhatsApp is to connect parents with one another, foster a sense of community, provide a forum for parents to assist one another, ease the burden on the school by answering general queries, and send relevant school-related messages to the entire group.
Messages in these WhatsApp groups come from parents in a personal capacity, or are sent on behalf of the P&C. The school neither sends nor monitors messages on WhatsApp.
We would appreciate if parents could note the following guidelines when using these WhatsApp groups:
Membership
- Groups are intended to be used by and accessible to class or year group parents, carers and guardians only.
Communication
- Please maintain a respectful tone and exercise good judgment and common sense when communicating in the group.
- Focus on positive and constructive discussions, and avoid sharing negative views or feedback about the school or specific individuals, including teachers, children, and other parents.
