Welcome to Waitara Public School
We acknowledge the Guringai people, the Traditional Owners of the land on which our school stands, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present.
At Waitara Public School, we are dedicated to fostering a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Every student is known, valued, and cared for within our vibrant, innovative, and inclusive community. Our goal is to nurture resilient, successful, and creative independent thinkers who challenge themselves, inspire others, and embody a passion for lifelong learning through equity and excellence in education. We believe in the power of student voice, encouraging our students to take an active role in their education through project-based learning, fostering skills that will serve them in an ever-changing world.
We take pride in our values program, Positive Behaviour, Engaging Learners. The Waitara Way—RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, PERSONAL BEST, and RESILIENCE—guides our students in developing confidence, empathy, and tolerance.
With students from over fifty-two cultural backgrounds, Waitara PS is a rich, multicultural community. We celebrate diversity and ensure that every child feels respected and valued, as seen in the joy of our annual Multicultural Day.
In our rapidly changing world, ICT competency is a priority. Our strong technology infrastructure supports 21st-century skills, creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. We empower students to set goals through reflection, self-assessment, and feedback.
Our professional, dedicated teachers are committed to best practices and continually enhance their skills through professional learning. They recognise each child’s unique learning journey and work closely with families to support every student’s challenges and achievements. Together with our invaluable support staff, we create an environment where all students can thrive.
Waitara PS balances academic excellence with diverse extracurricular programs, emphasising student well-being. We support students with additional learning needs and those with academic talents. Our programs in dance, public speaking, debating, and sports foster creativity, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Our culture of high expectations and belief in every child’s potential creates a safe and empowering space where students develop a strong sense of purpose, self-value, and belonging. This sense of community extends beyond the classroom, into homes, and the wider community, strengthened by strong partnerships with parents and the broader community.
Waitara PS is truly a special place for your family. Welcome!
