Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.
Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.
Music
Each week our students participate in a 40 minute music lesson with a specialist music teacher. Our students are taught by the wonderful Mrs Bell or Mrs Osborn. Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 thrive in this developmental and appropriate music program.
In 2023 more than 450 students participated in the school’s extra-curricular music program.
To accommodate the high demand of student participation these are the teacher led music ensembles.

Alongside classroom visual art programs, Waitara Public School has the amazing Mrs Plasto, a specialist art teacher who provides students with an additional visual arts program twice a year.

Classroom teachers immerse students with dramatic experiences throughout the year. These lessons are integrated with other KLAs, including English and History etc.
